The Passage of Honour

4-5 July, 2026

The Passage of Honour returns in 2026 as an intimate, immersive weekend of historical equitation and martial display, created for reenactors, jousters, armoured fencers, and medieval enthusiasts! With no public audience, this is a special event to be a part of the spectacle of the medieval tourney.

This is a private gathering where the world of the tournament comes alive: the lists, the pavilions, the music, the attendants, the heralds, the households, and the knights themselves. If you have ever wanted to spend a weekend living inside the atmosphere of a tournament, rather than performing for a crowd, this event is for you.

You are welcome to attend solo or as part of a full household or ensemble. Participants may come to witness the event or participate as a part of the list (joust or on-foot combat).

The Joust

Our traditional mounted passage of arms returns for another year. The joust will take place both Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting, upon the tilt yard at Historic Equitation.

Immediately preceeding the weekend is our 2-day summer training camp for jousters. Those attending the summer school during the week automatically have the option of a place in the joust, should they desire it.

On-Foot Tourney

New for 2026! Two days of small-group melee and 1-v-1 scenarios for men-at-arms with complete 15th century harness. Saturday will feature mixed weapon melee scenarios in our outdoor tournament field. On Sunday, men-at-arms may challenge one another in judged 1-v-1 combat, with 3 blows per weapon planned.

Equipment: Largely armour-as-worn rules will apply, but full 15th century kit is expected. Open faced helms and sallet & bevor are acceptable but worn at the user’s risk. All weapons will be evaluated for safety and alternatives provided if necessary. If in doubt, please email Elizabeth Scott with pictures of your armour to confirm eligibility.

Note: Combatants will be placed into groups for Saturday scenarios so that all may participate even if registering alone.
